Hi, I’m Greg Mellon, I’d like to personally welcome you to our website & dental practice family. I’m very happy that you have taken the time to get to know us better.

We opened our dental practice in McKinleyville in 1988 and several of our core employees have been with us almost from the start. Before that I spent 12 years working for the Native Americans at the Tsurai Health Center in Trinidad.

My wife Linda and I feel personally blessed to have raised 2 great kids, Brandon 25, and Shawna 24. My favorite activities revolve around connecting with our natural environment, including gardening (my favorite flowers are Zinnias), backpacking (my favorite hike is Canyon Creek in the early summer), and being on or in the water (my favorite paddling adventure is on the Trinity River) plus visiting the Arcata Farmers Market on Saturdays.

My name is Jann Carr, I was born and raised in Humboldt County, graduated from McKinleyville High School and furthered my education at Sacramento State University. I started out in dentistry as a Registered Dental Assistant and now I am our Office Manager.

One of my real joys is traveling; I have been to Paris, France several times and loved London. There is also an annual trip try to Hawaii with my Sister Joyce (Joyce & my Niece Jenny live in Yakima Washington). My hope is to one day live abroad for a year or two and really see Europe. I’d also love to visit New Zealand & Australia.

My two cats Myron & Katie are my only children. Reading, spending time with friends and playing on my home computer are some of my favorite pastimes.

My name is Mary Pelletier, I grew up in McKinleyville, and graduated from McKinleyville High School in 1989. In 1990 I attended College of the Redwoods and received my certificate in Dental Assisting shortly thereafter. I have been Dr. Mellon’s Assistant since 1996.

My husband Ron and I are big sports fans, and are passionate San Francisco Giants and Forty Niner fans. We make as many trips to the city as possible to cheer them on. We have both lived in Humboldt County all of our lives and there is no place else we would rather be. You can find us fishing, in the woods or just spending time with our friends and family. Go Giants!

I’m fairly new to the practice, my name is Kelly Hemmert. I’ve been a dental hygienist, practicing in this area, for over 26 years. My father is a dentist in Eureka, thus I grew up in the dental community.

I have two sons: Chad is 23 and will be graduating from University of Pacific may 2007 in mechanical engineering and applied mathematics. Troy is 17 and a senior at Arcata High School.

My biggest passion is riding my Harley. I am involved with the local Harley owners group. I also enjoy camping, skiing (both snow & water), travel, cooking and time with my golden retriever named Harley and my blue and god macaw named Pico.

I’m Rana Avery and I have been practicing dental hygiene in Humboldt County for approximately 1 ½ years. I grew up in Humboldt, graduating from Arcata High School in 1979. Prior to becoming a Dental Hygienist, I was a Registered Dental Assistant and also worked as an instructional assistant at Jacoby Creek School.

I have 2 children, Rachel 19 and Rebekah 13. I travel a lot with my daughter Rebekah who plays soccer & basketball on traveling teams. I am also the proud human of a boxer named Omar and 2 cats, Biscuit & Sophie.

In my free time, I love to travel, read, exercise with my dog at the beach and spend time with family and friends.

My name is Danelle Tomfohr, born and raised in northern California. I am a Registered Dental Hygienist with Dr. Mellon’s office after working in dentistry since 1985. Beginning as a Registered Dental Assistant, I worked in orthodontics for 6 years, spending 3 years continuing my college degree. I then completed Dental Hygiene at a college in Fresno, CA, graduating in 1993. I’ve worked in a variety of dental settings, including periodontics and prosthodontics. I enjoy working closely with patients through education and listening to their needs in order to achieve optimal health and happy smiles. My husband and I have been married for 23 years and have twin daughters that enjoy 2 of Humboldt County’s great schools. Together we enjoy kayaking, hiking, the beach, and ‘projects’. We have 2 horses, 2 cats, and 1 dog that make our home busy, but fun.

My name is Lynn Kitchen and I am a Registered Dental Hygienist. I was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan. My husband Dave and I moved to McKinleyville, California in 1972. We enjoy gardening, traveling, and spending time with our children and granddaughter.

I received my B.S. in Dental Hygiene from the University of Michigan in 1967. Since then I have worked as a clinic instructor at the U of M Dental school, and I have worked for a periodontist, a pedodontist, and in general practices. I have been working for Dr. Mellon for 18 years. After so many years, my co-workers and patients have become old friends. I enjoy working with my patients and strive to help them achieve good oral health.

Hello, my name is Jody Crandall and I work in the front office. I have lived in Humboldt County all my life and I graduated from Arcata High School in 1996. My husband, Chad, and I have been married for 7 years and we have a 3 year old son, Jacob. We live in Arcata with our cat, Dakota, who gets lots of exercise being chased by out son. We enjoy spending time with our family and friends. We also enjoy watching football and drag racing. I play on a recreational volleyball team, which I enjoy a lot. Most of our free time is taken up with spending quality time with out son going to the beach or park.

Hello, my name is Erin Jones. I grew up in Humboldt County, graduating from Eureka High School in 2001. I attended College of the Redwoods dental assisting and became a Registered Dental Assistant. My boyfriend, John and I live in McKinleyville. I enjoy being outside in both the winter and summer. I love snowboarding and going to the river. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love to cook. I have a miniature schnauzer named Wicket, and a cat named Danner.
